The last photo is of a sign we found at a rest area near Petersburg, WV. We were unable to find any sign of a fort in this area. We had stopped to look for sign of a home that some of Lee's relatives had near this spot back in the 1960's. I finally found one line of information on this and it happened in the late 1770's apparently.
