Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice was on December 21. I didn't get this posted then but will do it now.
Here's hoping everyone had a good Solstice day and night. It is a time to celebrate
that the days will now be getting longer as we go into the winter months.

It is a time to decide what you want to do in the coming year. Get rid of
things that bother you - to much clutter in your life or to many pounds
from poor eating habits or the need to exercise more. Exercise and healthy
eating are two of the most important things in our lives besides our families.
My family has not only people in it but many pets who are just as
important as humans.
Solstice is a time to decorate our homes for the coming Christmas.
If you haven't already done so honor the evergreen tree by decorating
one in your home or one outside - or both.
Take time to enjoy the outdoors.

Deer at Night

Back in October hubby set the trail camera on our front porch and caught about 200 photos of a deer eating acorns under the oak tree in our front yard. Here are the best ones. Most weren't worth keeping. Also got one of the dog running by same oak tree.

Dancing

Sarah, my sister, always enjoyed dancing. She and her friends do a lot of importune dancing in kind of an ethnic style. Most of these dances are about mythology or African dancing. One group is a Ti Chi dance group. They preformed at a park one afternoon while I was visiting Las Cruces. It was very interesting and I could tell they had put a lot of time and practice into the dances. One thing I noticed was that most of these dancers were age 50 and older. Makes me wonder why more of the younger people aren't interested in learning free style dancing. I found out that most of these dancers had been doing it from the time they were teenagers. Is this going to be another of those 'lost arts'?

The colors in all the costumes were eye catching. The way the dancers used large silk scarves and what looked like butterfly wings was amazing. Most costumes are special made, a lot of them made by hand by the dancers.

I could have listened to this man and his group of drummers and singers a lot longer than they played. They were fantastic. There was another small group of good musicians that played while one group of dancers danced.
