Paperwork???
In my wildest dreams I never would have guessed that I would be buying a home in Kentucky.
We finally picked out one. It isn't exactly what we wanted but we can make it do as it is the best of a lot of bad ones. Not to say it is a bad house. The house is really very nice but the yard isn't as big as we wanted. It is not quite an acre and we wanted something big enough we could have my 4 horses there with us. We should be able to at least have the 2 ponies.
We put in an offer in November and it was excepted by the owner. So it was wait and more wait for the past few months as the mortgage people and the title people did there thing - what ever that is. It took longer than normal as there was something screwy with the title on the house and the property. I never completely understood it. I think it was more about they didn't want to work on it over the Christmas and New Year holidays.- my personal opinion, of course. Anyway that part got settled and now it has been the 'paperwork'.
We had submitted all of our personal financial stuff to the mortgage company back in October when we first started looking for a house but now had to do it all over again. Tax papers from several years - bank statements - military papers from when we were in the Navy - references from people. Of course they have been checking our credit scores all this time which makes the scores come down each time it is checked. They were really good 2 years ago but helping our son buy his house, then we bought a new car, and now buying a house has put a dent in our scores.
Personal opinion again but the system for determining credit scores should be reworked. It was first started many, many years ago and I don't think it has been updated much since.
Anyway the people at the mortgage company are hoping we can have a closing date next week and then we will be able to move into our next home.
